Q.

A.

Does Steri 'n' Stock® integrate with my Practice Management Software?

Yes Steri 'n' Stock® can integrate, see below for our current list*. If you are running an application that is not currently not on the list of integrated products you will find that Steri 'n' Stock® performs just as well as a standalone product, patient details are only required to be entered once.

* Currently Exact (from v9 FP5), Oasis (from v8.24-059), PracticeWorks and OrthoTrac have the Steri link. We are always looking for other software vendors to include an integrated link, but this is at the discretion of their developers and in some cases will only occur if their clients ask them for it.

A.

Can I use Steri 'n' Stock® as a standalone program, or does it only work integrated with my Practice software?

Yes Steri 'n' Stock® can be used as a standalone application. When you want to assign a packet of instruments to a patient, it will check the patients already entered into the system, if it finds a match it will ask you to confirm and select the patient or it will create a new one, so the continual entry of Patient information and potential typing errors are greatly reduced.

Q.

A.

Will I need training?

In most cases no; however if you feel that your staff would benefit from some training we are happy to arrange that for you. There is a manual included on the CD which covers everything you need to know regarding the program.

Q.

A.

Will I need to buy a barcode scanner?

When you purchase Steri 'n' Stock® a barcode scanner is supplied. If you only have the Demo/Trial version at this stage, you can either purchase the full product or manually enter the barcodes when you use them.

In some cases a different barcode scanner may suit the needs of your surgery better than the standard one supplied with the product (e.g. cordless barcode scanner). If that is the case we can show you a variety of barcode scanners that will suit your requirements. Please contact our sales staff for more information.

Q.

A.

I don't have a computer in my Steri or Stock areas, will I need one?

Yes you will need a computer in those areas to effectively track your items. However, this doesn't necessarily have to be a huge tower system, there are many choices available today that do not take up a lot of precious Steri area space.

For Example: There are great high powered Slate/Tablets, Laptops and All-in-One systems that have touch screens and are easily wall mounted - ask our sales staff for more information and pricing.

A.

Am I able to give feedback or give you a "Wish List"?

Yes, we welcome any feedback/wish list you may care to offer. It is our aim to examine and action all suggestions that may prove beneficial in any way to improve our product or to assist in the continued good relationship between our company and it's end-users.

Q.

A.

How do I know what version I am running?

If you are running any version above 1.0.5.82 then the version number appears in the applications title bar. If the version doesn't appear in the title bar, follow the instructions below.

To find the version that you currently have installed, locate the SnS.exe file. In Windows XP, right mouse click on the shortcut and select "Properties", then select "Find Target". In Windows Vista, right mouse click on the shortcut and select "Open file location".

Right mouse click on SnS.exe and select "Properties". In Windows XP, select the Version tab and find the "Product Version" in the item list - the version will appear in the value column. In Windows Vista, select the Details tab and look for "Product Version" in the Property column.

Q.

A.

Do I need to keep a manual log sheet for my steri cycles?

If you are using version 1.x of the program, then Yes, you will still require a manual log sheet. However, since version 2, Steri 'n' Stock® meets the requirements outlined in the Australian Standards AS/NZS 4815:2006, section 8 and therefore is an electronic version of the log sheet, so no manual log sheet is required. The user has a username and password for the application which identifies them as would their signature.

Q.

A.

My packet cannot be used, the software indicates the barcode cannot be found?

This can be caused by a number of things, a faulty scanner, the scanner is having difficulty reading the label due to its location on the packet or that, as indicated, the barcode was not entered into the program and therefore not found in the database.

When you enter the packet into the system, check that the correct barcode has been read before entering the packet or ending a batch. You may also need to reassess where you physically place the barcode to achieve a better barcode read after the sterilisation process.

When using the packet, try entering the barcode manually, if it still indicates that the barcode cannot be found, then the barcode may not have been entered into the system and was missed when entering the packets into the program. Any barcode can be checked by using "Barcode Check", available since version 2.01 of the program.

Q.

A.

How do I enter the initial Stock items and the stock levels?

This can be done in one of two ways...

1. You can use the "Enter New Item" area to add in the Description, etc. for each item. Initially you may find it faster to just enter the description and go back and fill in the other relevant information later.

2. You can use the Import CSV option in the maintenance area. This will import the Description, Supplier, Supplier's Stock Code, Minimum Stock Level, Quantity per Box, Cost per item or box and any other information.

Once all the stock items have been entered, use the "Enter Stocktake" area, located under maintenance, to enter the initial levels. Once all items are entered you can print the barcodes and attach them to the stock items. Minimum levels can be altered via the maintenance area also without the need to edit each individual stock item.

Q.

A.

What if the items are too small for barcodes?

Where the items are too small to be labeled, we recommend that a barcode be placed on the drawer or shelf for identification or the "selected Stock Items" report can be generated for these items. Keep the sheet(s) next to the computer and use this report to scan the barcode when the item is used.
